Five awarded Royal Designers for Industry accolade

Product designer Sam Hecht and design duo Pearson Lloyd are among the five designers chosen as this year’s Royal Designers for Industry.

Engineering designer Max Fordham and textile designer Sarah King will join Hecht, Luke Pearson and Tom Lloyd this evening at a ceremony in London to become part of a select group of 153 designers who have received the RDI accolade.

The honour is awarded by the Royal Society of the Arts.

Tom Bloxham, co-founder of property developer Urban Splash, will receive this year’s RSA Bicentenary Medal for an outstanding contribution to regenerating the UK’s inner cities, including Manchester and Liverpool.

Honorary RDI awards will also be given to international designers including Andrea Branzi, James Carpenter, Dries van Noten and Sori Yanagi.
