Digital group Fjord opens in Madrid

Digital consultancy Fjord is opening an office in Madrid as part of a growth strategy to bring the consultancy to new markets.

The move could lead to further expansion in other markets, according to Fjord chief executive Olof Schybergson, who says, ‘In the US, we’re looking at options for San Francisco, and we’ve worked in China and South Korea, and would consider a presence there in 12 to 18 months.’

The consultancy, which also has offices in London, Berlin, and Helsinki, opened a New York outpost last year.

Schybergson says of the decision to move to Spain, ‘The Spanish market is very big and the Spanish-speaking market is even bigger. Some of the brands are doing great interactive work out there with Web and mobile. They are very progressive and there’s some great talent.’

The new office, which will open with a staff of ten, is to be headed by managing director Andy Goodman, formerly service design director at Fjord’s London office.

It will initially service Fjord’s existing Spanish clients telecommunications company Telefonica and banking group BBVA.
