Nicholas Serota appointed to Boris Johnson’s design panel
Sir Nicholas Serota, director of the Tate, has been appointed to London mayor Boris Johnson’s Design Advisory Panel.
The appointment comes after architect Richard Rogers announced in September that he was standing down as deputy chair of the panel.
Serota will join the former Royal Institute of British Architects president Sunand Prasad, English Heritage London Advisory Committee chairwoman Joyce Bridges, and developer Argent’s chief executive Roger Madelin on the panel.
Daniel Moylan, deputy chairman of Transport for London, is taking over as chairman of the group from deputy London mayor Simon Milton.
Johnson is to announce further additions to the panel shortly. He says, ‘When I set up my panel just a year ago, I said it was vital that we have a constant supply of new ideas and fresh thinking.
‘Nick’s extensive knowledge of London and what makes it so extraordinarily successful will be vital in ensuring we make the right decisions that continually improve the quality of life in our great city for generations to come.’
