Paul Smith joins Landor as creative director

Landor London has appointed Paul Smith, former design director at Interbrand, as creative director.

A spokesman at Interbrand says that there will be no direct replacement for Smith, with Interbrand’s design studio team having undergone a ‘creative revitalisation’.

This will see executive creative director Gion-Men Kruegal working with three creative directors – David Jenkinson, Steve Burden and Ian Styles – and a new, undisclosed creative director working on fmcg.

Smith joined Landor this month and will be supporting Peter Knapp, executive creative director for Europe, Middle East and Africa at the consultancy, with creative output on corporate projects.

Smith says, ‘I’m very, very proud to be here. It’s a super company and a great opportunity to build on the great things it has done.’

Knapp says, ‘Paul brings with him a wealth of brand design experience on a global level and a commitment to delivering exceptional brand design solutions for our clients.’

Landor has also made two other senior appointments – David Lightman, previously client services director at The Gild, joins as executive director of client development, while former AKQA marketing manager Maya Hart becomes marketing director.
