On Friday lenticular fence poster installations started to go up, in Cardiff; Berlin, Magdeburg and Bavaria, in Germany;Copenhagen and Dublin which on passing, give the illusion of an appearing and disappearing face.
Lenticular printing is the technique, you might rememember, best deployed on rulers at school – known informally as wiggle pictures, Design Week seems to remember.
Using two or more images behind a lenticualr lens and animation, depth or movement can be generated.
Each apparition is one of four people from Amnesty’s Write for Rights campaign, where members of the public are encouraged to write a hand-written letter calling for change in support of one of ten causes.
A plaque at each site alerts passers by to www.amnesty.org.uk/fence where visitors can take action to support the individuals featured. They can be viewed until January.
