Someone eyes world-record bid in Burton’s biscuits rebrand
Consultancy Someone is rebranding Burton’s Foods in an overhaul which will see the company’s name change to the Burton’s Biscuit Company and a potential attempt made on the Guinness World Record for the biggest biscuit.
Someone was engaged in January to realign the Burton’s masterbrand. The company brands including Jammie Dodgers and Maryland Cookies.
Consultancy co-founder David Law says Someone chose to keep the Burton’s name due to its strong equity, and has added the strapline ‘making every day more of a treat’.
This will be supported by a ‘brand cookie’ graphic element featuring each of the Burton’s-operated brands ‘as a candy on the cookie’.
Law says a real version of this ‘brand cookie’ could be baked, and that Someone is in talks with representatives from the Guinness World Records about the possibility of baking the biggest biscuit in the world.
The new brand is set to launch next year and Someone is now working on ‘the backdrop behind the brand’ Law says, which includes office interiors and a new website developed with VCCP.
Is this an early/late April Fool’s joke?
