East London’s Puppy Snatcher
Street artist Malarky is bringing his muttley crew of cute critters to east London’s Beach gallery, presenting a colourful array of hounds for his Puppy Snatcher exhibition.
This is the artist’s first solo gallery exhibition, and draws on such diverse influences as traditional ceramics, sangria and spaniels.
The show brings together Malarkey’s experiences of two years spent painting in Barcelona, soaking in the city’s ‘sun-kissed, summer-loving, sangria-drinking, colour-bursting style’, according to the gallery.
Earlier this year, he spent his time living and working in the less exotic city of Stoke on Trent, famous for its ceramics, which have fed into his new sculpture-led practice, which has seen him fabricate his own versions of traditional hand-glazed plates, pottery and pooches.
Puppy Snatcher runs from 7 December – 2 February 2014 at Beach London, 20 Cheshire Street, London E2
