Graffik Gallery hosts Al Souk Arab art and design show
Graffik Gallery is hosting Al Souk, an Arab art and design show which sees 18 designers and artists showing their wares.
Products, lighting, stationery, fashion, collectibles, limited edition prints and photos, and rare design books are all promised.
Beirut Prints caught our eye, work by 20 photographers from and beyond Lebanon, that show the lighter and darker sides to a city of beautiful and violent paradoxes.
Shirine Osseiran is a Lebanese artist who works in a vivid typographic-painterly style, as well as video and photography.
We were also drawn to Majnouna by Joumana Madlej, who works in Kufi script, the oldest form of Arabic, by forging contemporary designs with it, focussing particulalrly on the interplay between Kufi and geometry.
This stationary by Beirut-based Choux a La Crème is a sort of French-Lebanese affair, and sees itself as ‘witty modern and designy’.
Artist and designer Amber Khokar works in a range of materials and counts HRH Prince Charles among her clients, according to Al Souk.
Khokar works from London, lectures from Birkbeck, University of London teaching on the World Art and Artefacts Programme.
She works across different media for the likes of The Designers Guild, The Islamic Art Museum Malaysia and Rolls Royce.
Al Souk runs until 21 November at Graffik Gallery, 284 Portobello Rd, London W10
