Manchester and Salford Illustrated
An illustration show that celebrates The Smiths and the rain has kicked off in – you guessed it – Manchester, hailing the return of the Manchester and Salford Illustrated show.
The event, which made its debut in 2011, will feature work from around 30 illustrators and artists, briefed to created work that present their take on ‘everyday Manchester and Salford’.
The aim of the event, say organisers Wood Street Creative Friends, is to allow Manchester and Salford illustrators working for agencies/studios, in-house or freelance, to ‘exhibit work to their peers, creative agencies and members of the public – and share their personal viewpoint of their city’.
The exhibition will raise funds for local charity Wood Street Mission, which provides help for families affected by poverty.
Work on show was selected from an open call, judged by creative including Manchester-based graphic designer Trevor Johnson. For those who can’t make it to the actual event, all the works will also be on display on the website.
Manchester and Salford Illustrated will run until the end of December, at 52 Princess Street, Manchester M1
