The consultancy first redesigned Radioplayer in April 2012 and this latest improvement sees an interface and user experience update for the “plug-in” space, which pops out into a new window when a station is selected.

Programme information now animates into view, using what MagneticNorth lead developer Peter Hough calls “slick animation effects”.

Scheduling has been brought into the plug in so listeners can see what’s coming up, or listen to on-demand versions of programmes they’ve just missed.

The Stations panel gives at-a-glance information on what is playing on other channels.

Hough says: “You can see what programme is currently live and jump to that station allowing for better station discovery.”

The Favourites section allows you to build up a profile of your favourite programmes and to view these within the plug in window.

At the bottom of the plug in panel the Context Panel expands to show track information and large images of cover art.

Hough says: “I think listeners will like the extended track information in the context panel and hope they will also find the top tabs – Schedule, Stations and Favourites – useful shortcuts.”
