Sheffield Design Week-ender

After making its debut in the summer, Sheffield Design Week is back (sort of) with a series of events coming up this weekend.

The organisers of SDW are presenting a “mini version” of the event – the Sheffield Design Week-ender, from 21-23 November.

The centerpiece of this will be a large-scale projects of The Designers Republic’s installation Atoms Vectors Pixels Ghosts, at Park Hill in the city.

The AVPG hoardings were commissioned for Sheffield Design Week and are described by tDR as “ideas and fictions snatched from the ether, filtered and forged into concrete logic nets and rationalised parameters and fizzed out into endless possibilities approaching not knowing.”

If that leaves you slightly mystified, then you’ll be pleased to hear that tDR’s Ian Anderson is giving a talk on 21 November explaining the project.

Alongside this, the Week-ender also features an exhibition of AVPG ephemera at Made North Gallery in Sheffield, and a Design Pub Quiz at the city’s Rutland Arms on, with questions by Anderson (although he warns “there are more questions than answers”).

Sheffield Design Week-ender takes place at various venues around Sheffield from 21-23 November. For more information visit www.sheffielddesignweek.co.uk.
