Design Event 07 starts today

The North East of England’s Design Event 07 kicks off today in Sunderland, with the opening of a series of exhibitions called One-Off Factory.

The festival proceeds with an exhibition of graphics by North East designers, called Our Friends in the North, on Friday 12 October.

The typeface Helvetica is celebrated on Saturday when DE07 presents 50 Years of Helvetica at the Globe Gallery.

During the rest of the festival, which runs until 28 October, events include furniture and jewellery show Launch 2007, an architecture tour of Newcastle called Urban Translation and a series of talks in association with Nesta.
