Dott 09 race is narrowed down to two

The Design Council is in discussions with two frontrunners, the Scottish Executive and the South West Regional Development Agency, as prospective collaborators for Designs of the Time 09.

An announcement on which has been successful is expected by the end of the year. Dott 07, the first in a ten-year programme, in collabor ation with the Design Council and regional development agen cy One North East, drew to a close on Sunday.

It aimed to lay the foundations for Dott 09, with five regions ultimately set to benefit from design projects.

According to a Design Coun cil spokeswoman, ‘We are having active discussions with potential regions. There are two potential partners, the Scottish Executive and the South West RDA.’

Dott 07 attracted 20 613 visitors, 8000 above target. It was a year of community projects, events and exhibitions based in North East England exploring how design can help to create a sustainable region.
