Plus event opens in Birmingham

The Plus International Design Festival 07, a Birmingham-based exhibition showcasing the world of typography and graphics, opens tomorrow.

The event will feature a number of exhibiting design consultancies, illustrators, students and artists. There will be exhibitions showing design experiments from interactive light installations to urban installations.

A series of workshops and a large conference, expected to draw around 150 international delegates, will also take place.

French architect Alexandre Parre is overseeing the overall design of the festival, organised by exhibition specialists Plus Expo and Typevents. Parre has worked on the festival steering group with three Birmingham consultancies Clusta, Fluid and 3Form.

The design of the exhibition space aims to reflect the industrial nature of the venue, a former steel-pressing factory in the city’s Digbeth area.

Plus takes place at the Wild Building, Floodgate Street, Digbeth from 17 to 21 October. Festival partners include the Chartered Society of Designers, the Design Council and the Design Business Association.
