Back to the pitch for DW League teams

The Design Week League football season kicks off on 6 October, when Blue Marlin plays Landor Steamers.

The league, now in its second year, includes Work Communications (FC Work), Blue Marlin, Start Creative (Start Academicals), Pearlfisher, Jones Knowles Ritchie, Landor (Landor Steamers), FutureBrand, Imagination, Design Bridge and Winkreative.

Six-a-side teams will play each other twice over the season, which comes to an end on 26 January 2009.

Andy Stone of last year’s winner FC Work says, ‘We’re looking to defend our title and hoping that we can go this season unbeaten.’

Ben Cleaver of last year’s runner-up Blue Marlin was top scorer last year, with 17 goals. He says, ‘The squad are focused on the new season, we’ll be talking it one game at a time, giving it 110 per cent, but at the end of the day it’s a funny old game and there are no easy matches at this level.’
