Dalziel & Pow to open Shanghai office

Retail design consultancy Dalziel & Pow is opening an office in Shanghai, which will be led by its associate director Stephen Cowles.

When it opens in November it will be the London firm’s first international office.

Cowles is to relocate to Shanghai on a permanent basis, and will initially man the office alone. His role will involve courting new business and managing the local requirements for the Chinese market.

‘We have been looking to open our first international office for years, and the demand for UK design in China is huge,’ says a spokesman for the consultancy. ‘The Shanghai office will offer access to all of our core services.’

For now, however, all creative and strategic work will be executed by the consultancy’s London team.

Dalziel & Pow hopes to work with both international and local brands in Shanghai, developing new retail concepts able to compete with recently arrived Western retailers in the Chinese market and working with global clients looking to expand in China.

In the longer term, the consultancy hopes to extend its reach into other Asian markets including Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea.
