Start¹s Cummings opens Hong Kong office

Start Creative is opening an office in Hong Kong on 1 January 2009, Design Week can exclusively reveal.

Jonathan Cummings, marketing director of the London-based branding group, will become managing director of the office. He plans to stay in Hong Kong indefinitely.

The aim is to access China, which Cummings sees as ‘a major opportunity’. Start recently created the Adidas global flagship store in Beijing with Manchester-based retail specialist Judge Gill, in which it has a shareholding (DW 14 July).

His first objective will be ‘to build relationships and create a team’ in Hong Kong. Creative work will be handled in the UK, as it is for Start’s projects in India, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.

Cummings joined Start in 2007 from the Institute of Directors.
