Thonet unveils new collaborations

German furniture designer Stefan Diez has unveiled his latest creation for Thonet, the 1404 table (pictured).

The table is designed to go alongside the 404 chairs Diez and Thonet launched last year.

‘Wood has the fantastic characteristic of being elastic without breaking,’ says Diez.

Thonet will also launch a collaboration with furniture designer James Irvine at the Orgatec fair, which runs in Cologne from 21-25 October.

Irvine has worked with Thonet as a designer for five years and as consultant creative director for the past two.

A collaboration between Thonet and Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa is also in the pipeline.
