Big Active designs Youth Music charity book

A book featuring artwork inspired by Rankin’s music photography has been designed by consultancy Big Active to celebrate charity Youth Music’s tenth birthday.

The book, Destroy/Rankin, features contributions from more than 70 artists and musicians including Damien Hirst (work pictured), Douglas Gordon, Jarvis Cocker and Peter Saville.

It contains interviews exploring the relationship between art and music, including one between Cocker and Saville.

The book will launch on 9 November alongside an exhibition at Phillips de Pury in London, displaying works including a Hirst impression of a Joe Strummer photograph.

Big Active has been involved since the project’s inception in January according to creative director Gerard Saint, who says, ‘We’ve tried to reflect the ethos of the book in the art direction by showing the energy of artists and musicians, through a strong magazine approach. It’s very loud.’

Select originals will be sold at an online Phillips de Pury auction, which takes place on 14 November.
