Glue London creates digital presence for Stem initiative

Glue London has designed a new website encouraging 11- to 16-year-olds to take science and maths A-levels, for the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

The digital advertising consultancy was appointed by the DCSF in 2007, and briefed to create a campaign for its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics initiative.

The website follows an ad campaign and a Bebo application designed by the consultancy to engage young people in the subjects.

Going live today, the Stem website aims to showcase careers that science and maths can lead to, including innovation consultant, cosmetics specialist, gemmologist and spacecraft engineer.

Video content is embedded in the pages, showing occupational case studies. A list of key facts accompanies the videos.

Account director Marilyn Cheng says, ‘We wanted to do something engaging, that would keep our target audience interested – and allow for short attention spans.’

The homepage is a ‘never-ending videowall’ of careers which users can scroll through, featuring information on ‘key careers’ that ‘doesn’t take long to load’, Cheng adds.
