Pentawards winners to go on show

The winning designs in the Pentawards 2009 packaging design awards will go on show at venues in France, Monaco and China next year.

The winners were announced at a ceremony at the Brussels Design Forum on Friday.

The Diamond Pentaward Best of the Show prize went to the Kleenex Slice of Summer boxes (pictured), by Kimberly-Clark USA.

Five platinum Pentawards were presented, going to the winners in the five major categories. Among the platinum winners was London- and San Francisco-based Turner Duckworth, which picked up an award in the Beverages category for its Coca Cola Summer 2009 project.

The other winners were Japanese consultancy Nosigner for Kanpyo Udon in the Food category; Wolff Olins New York for Living Proof, No Frizz in the Body category; Greek consultancy Mouse Graphics for Petrocoll, Spatula Putty in the Other Markets category; and Dragon Rouge’s Paris office for L’Or de Martell in the Luxury category.

The designs will go on show at a number of different venues, including Luxepack in Monaco this month, the Design Pack Gallery in Paris in February 2010 and Luxepack in Shanghai in 2010.

Packaging design specialist Lars Wallentin received an honorary Pentaward to celebrate his career, while designer Karim Rashid received a special Pentaward for his creativity in packaging design. Turner Duckworth was named Pentaward agency of the year.
