Dare we hope that the worst of the recession is behind those of us in design?
Certainly, there is movement at top level of the business with Daljit Singh joining the Conran empire to set up interaction design consultancy Conran Singh, Elmwood – now a global branding group that has extended way beyond its humble origins in Leeds – building its creative strength with the appointment of Adam Ellis as its first London-based creative director and The Partners boosting its digital team with the appointment of Tony Phillips as head of digital.
The public sector isn’t dead, but it looks like we’ll have to find new outlets for that particular talent. We need a whole raft of Victorian-style benefactors to fill the gap and champion design. Any volunteers?
