Play your cards right

It’s October – so of course we’re seeing the first glimpses of the festive season. However, before you get immersed in Christmas lights and shopping – why not spread a little yule-tide cheer yourself and enter Stranger Collective’s competition to design a Christmas card for charity.

Christmas cards we received from Johnson Banks last year

The Penryn-based creative consultancy are seeking one winning design to complete its set of five alternative Christmas cards, the proceeds of which will go to international disaster relief charity Shelterbox. The first four cards have been created by four illustrators including Jon Burgerman and Jenny Bowers.

The competition winner and final two illustrator’s designs will be unveiled at a special launch night on 11 November at The Poly, Falmouth in Cornwall. The cards will be sold in packs of 10 and available to buy online and in the shops until Christmas – with all profits going to Shelterbox.

The design must use the theme of Christmas, but contain no specific religious content as it has to appeal to a wide audience. The finished card will measure 105mm x150mm, in portrait format.

Designs should be submitted by e-mail to christmascards@stranger-collective.com by midnight on 20 October. The winning design will be announced on 22 October.

    Hi Guys

Great article. I just wanted to update you to say that the cards are now available and are looking amazing. It was a huge honour for so many incredible illustrators to submit designs and we must say a massive ‘thank you’ to the guys from The Stranger Collective for organising it all.
