Coley Porter Bell hire new planning director John Clark

Coley Porter Bell has appointed John Clark as planning director, replacing Christian Barnett who has left to set up his own strategic planning consultancy.

Clark, who started this week, will be the planning director for a team of four planners, and will report directly to Coley Porter Bell chief executive Vicky Bullen. He joins Coley Porter Bell from M&C Saatchi, where he has been a strategy director since 2006.

He will be responsible for visual planning for all the consultancy’s packaging projects, working across its entire client base to ensure the creative teams are briefed correctly on strategic matters such as brand positioning, target audience and brand message.

He says, ‘ Though the process and end result may differ, planning in brand design is still, at its heart, about providing insight into the consumer, market and brand.

‘And given our increasingly visual world, as well as CPB’s visual output, our visual planning process is an innovative and valuable take on more traditional planning approaches.’

Bullen adds, ‘I have no doubt that John will bring invaluable insight across all the work we do whether for companies, products or services.’
