How does your garden grow?
This year’s Serpentine Gallery art marathon, an annual event which sees a host of artists, designers and other creative types present their work over a period of two days, takes gardens as its central theme.
Inspired by the Piet Oudolf-designed garden in Peter Zumthor’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, a steller line-up including Peter Saville, Alice Rawsthorn and Paul Smith will be creating and presenting garden-inspired work in a geodesic dome outside the gallery.
Curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, the line-up also features mathematician Marcus de Sautoy, film-maker Adam Curtis, artist Wolfgang Tillmans and (an expert in the field) garden designer Dan Pearson.
The Serpentine says the event will explore ‘the significance of the garden in our experience of the world, as well as cutting-edge research in biodiversity, conservation and genetics’.
The Serpentine Gallery Garden Marathon runs from 15-16 October at the Serpentine Gallery, London W2
It looks really interesting, I wish that I had been informed beforehand.
