The NoPhone – a technology-free surrogate mobile

It won’t bend, tear off your hair or dial in your pocket. But nor will it connect to Wifi, take photographs or make calls.

Nophone

Billed as “a technology-free alternative to constant hand-to-phone contact” the NoPhone is a solid block of plastic that allows people to manage their phone addiction using a surrogate device.

In much the same way as e-cigarettes mimic the feeling of holding a ciggy in your hand, the NoPhone acts as comforting phone-shaped block.

As the designers say: “Never again experience the unsettling feeling of flesh on flesh when closing your hand.”

The NoPhone is launching on Kickstarter and is currently over its $5000 target. Funders are offered either a NoPhone or a NoPhone with selfie functionality (a mirror).

The designers say: “Once this project is funded, we will manufacture the NoPhone. It will be the same as the 3D printed prototype, but the surface of the manufactured version will be smooth.”
