Dixon unveils cocktail bar

UK designer Tom Dixon has created his own Bombay Sapphire-inspired cocktail bar installation to house his Martini cocktail glass, which will be launched to coincide with the London Design Festival.

The Bombay Sapphire Perfectly Balanced bar’s landscape stems from the glass itself. The lines of the bar stools, tables and suspended ceiling lights all mimic the conical shapes of the dark blue glass to create a minimalist bar design.

The dark blue cap of the Bombay Sapphire bottle was inspiration for the Martini cocktail glass, which sets the mood for the bar. The white lining of the glass mirrors the opaque glass tabletops and the diffused light from the ceiling lights.

Additionally, Dixon’s glass and bar design will feature in a new print advertising campaign for Bombay Sapphire, to launch this month.

The move comes as Bombay Sapphire announces the deadline for entries for the international glass design award as October 31. Dixon is among the judges for the award.

The installation will be showcased at the Trafalgar’s Rockwell Bar at Trafalgar Square, London SW1, from 22 September to 7 October.
