Hadid wins design medal

The London Design Medal was last night awarded to renowned architect Zaha Hadid by Mayor of London Ken Livingstone at the opening ceremony of the London Design Festival.

The medal, designed by Pentagram partner Domenic Lippa, was launched for the first time this year, and it acknowledges the depth of design talent in the UK.

However, the festivities at the Royal Festival Hall were marred later in the evening when a male guest was stabbed in the face with a bottle.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a woman was arrested just before midnight and a man was taken to St Thomas’s Hospital.
