Luxury goods retailer William & Son has undergone a modern makeover, courtesy of interiors specialist Shed Design, to be unveiled on 13 October.

Based in the heart of London’s Mayfair, the revamped flagship store will sport an, ‘elegantly modern’ interior, while remaining sensitive to the original features of the Victorian Grade II-listed building, explains head designer Laura Garland.

‘The original building and William & Son brand was already very strong – it just needed a new lease of life,’ says Garland, who has been working on the project since early this year.

She says, ‘Our brief was to find new and better ways of showing off the products and bring the interior up to date, while maintaining the brand identity and the historic integrity of the building’.

Sleek, simple lines and brighter colours have been combined with decorative walnut furniture pieces to create a modern, bespoke luxury feel. Handmade Italian crystal chandeliers light up the interior, which Garland claims ‘brighten the space’ while maintaining the strong sense of opulent British heritage.

The new interior will be accompanied by a comprehensive rebranding strategy, masterminded by design consultancy Six, which will include a new logo, website, catalogue and own brand products.

William & Son stocks an array of luxury lifestyle products, from jewellery to watches, china, crystal and leather goods.
