Artist creates Adidas trainer

Adidas is set to launch a new trainer designed by New York-based urban artist Momo.

The limited-edition Y-3 trainer is made from cowhides painted with brightly coloured geometric shapes. The hides were cut randomly, producing three different styles of shoe.

The 350 pairs of Y-3/Momo trainers will come in boxes featuring graphics designed by Momo and containing a limited-edition artwork called Elements, also by Momo. Elements consists of five coloured cardboard shapes that can be turned into a wall collage.

Momo’s trainers project is the result of his recent work with fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto. The Japanese designer, who collaborates with Adidas on the Y-3 collection, recently commissioned Momo to customise a selection of clothes for the label’s autumn-winter collection.

The resulting 13 garments are available at Y-3 stores this month, while the Y-3/Momo trainers will be be available from 1 October, priced at £235 a pair.

Further proof on just how much adidas have lost the plot. A Klaxon shoe, great….

looks like the sort of shoe that never gets bought at TK Maxx or a discount shoe store, maybe in size 12. On a plus side they look hard wearing and difficult to wear out. But I wouldnt wear them out, anywhere.

I believe that are just ugly. And the so-called urban artist MoMo should not be paid for this “work.” And that Y-3 should be ashamed to price those things for that outrageous amount of pounds!
