Letterpress studio to pop up in the capital

Designer-maker network Cockpit Arts and the Society of Revisionist Typographers will be running a pop-up letterpress studio during London Design Festival this month.

The event, to be held in Lowndes Court, near Carnaby Street, from 22-27 September, will see Sort recreate its studio in public.

Sort will be crafting letterpress designs using antique equipment and visitors will also be able to try their hand at creating bespoke print. Books, stationery, curios and cards will also be on sale.

The project is part of Cockpit Arts’ Maker Difference campaign, which aims to promote and support independent designer-makers.

Earlier this year, Cockpit Arts was awarded £50 000 in funding from the London Development Agency’s 2012 London Cultural Skills Fund.
