Simon & John works on outsize women’s fashion store

Outsize womenswear label Ann Harvey’s Oxford Street flagship store opens today, with new interiors and branding by Simon & John.

Ann Harvey owner Alexon Group appointed Simon & John in December last year to oversee its portfolio of brands. The consultancy beat Fitch, Dalziel & Pow and a handful of architectural groups in an unpaid creative pitch to win the contract.

‘Initially, Alexon asked us to look at the store design, but we went a step further and looked at the branding as well,’ says Simon & John co-founder Simon Parsons.

‘Ann Harvey’s customers were using the store to fulfil their functional needs as larger ladies, rather than their emotional needs, which meant that they were not brand loyal,’ says Parsons.

The revamped Oxford Street store is intended to inspire Ann Harvey’s customers to have ‘a more emotional connection’ to the brand, according to Parsons.

I would like to point out that we did not take part in an unpaid pitch for this project. We do not take part in unpaid pitching and have never done so in our 26 year history.
This policy has done us no harm and indeed helped us build very many long lasting and fruitful client relationships.
Best of luck to Anne Harvey, Simon and John on this project.
