Dyson and Sorrell ‘to advise Government on business’

Ten Downing Street says it is set to make a statement confirming details of David Cameron’s new business advisory board.

It is understood that Sir James Dyson and WPP chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell will be named as members of the board, but neither Dyson nor WPP were able to confirm anything at this stage.

It has been reported that Dyson and Sorrell will join BT and Easyjet chairman Sir Mike Rake, CBI president Helen Alexander and Sainsbury chief executive Justin King on the panel.

Dyson produced a report for the Conservative Party in March prior to the General Election.

This recommended a review of the ‘funding, objectives and impact’ of the Design Council, and in July the new Government called for a review of the ‘future role and status’ of the Design Council, which is now ongoing.

The naming of the advisory board coincides with Dyson stepping down as chief executive of his company to concentrate on engineering and inventing.
