Johnson Banks creates new look for music and dance institution

Johnson Banks has created a new visual identity for the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

The college was formed from the merger of London organisations Trinity College of Music and the Laban dance centre in 2005. Last year the consultancy carried out brand positioning for the reconfigured institution.

A visual identity for the new brand has been created, with sub-brands for the two separate institutions, which has provided consultancy Precedent with a cue for the design of the college’s new website. Both consultancies were required to identify the new brand but retain the presence of each college.

The Precedent-designed site, which launches today, takes visitors to a homepage where the main corporate brand in blue is flanked by the music college in purple and the dance college in green.

Navigating left or right of the centre column, visitors can choose the faculty of their choice, which Precedent says gives the site ‘brand continuity’ and allows visitors to explore the brand ‘as a whole’
