Method creates App Lounge identity

Method has created the visual identity, website and promotional material for The App Lounge, a pop-up digital showroom that will open during London Design Festival.

The space, which will be curated by Method senior director of user experiences Alexander Grünsteidl, will allow members of the public to sample new mobile and tablet applications, online services and digital content such as eBooks.

The App Lounge, which will open at London’s Wardour Street from 15 September, will also act as a coffee store during the day and cocktail bar at night. The pilot project is a collaboration between Method, Digital Wellbeing Labs, Appitizeus, Spotspot and D&D London.

The thinking behind the pilot store is to develop a retail environment that improves the margins on hardware and software by combining with the hospitality industry, which has better margins, says Grünsteidl.

He adds, ‘For the identity we wanted to take the idea out of the tech world and give it a feel more appropriate to fashion and lifestyles.’

The branding will be applied to the store’s interiors, which will be split into sections to reflect three types of customers – the urban voyager, the girl or guy on the town and the city dweller. It is hoped that similar pop-up shops will be opened in San Francisco and New York.
