Precedent creates new website for University for the Creative Arts

Precedent has designed a new website for the University for the Creative Arts, which showcases images of student work.

The new site, which launches today, features student work in the background of the site, while information and course details are placed in the foreground. Darren Amer, consultant at Precedent, says, ’It’s almost like creating two websites – the background is very visual, while the foreground has a layer of text and content.’

The ’media wall’ of work (pictured) features student work from every course at UCA, and displays paintings, films, photographs and fashion designs. The website has also been designed to be easy to navigate and to provide easy access to information about courses.

Precedent began strategy work to understand potential student requirements in March 2009, says Amer. This led to a pitch for design work for the site in December 2009, with Precedent starting work on the design in January this year.

Helen Anderson, assistant director of marketing at UCA, says, ’As a specialist arts university, we found that the number one priority of prospective students visiting our site was to view the work of our students.’

She adds, ’As a result, we worked with Precedent to create a media wall, which showcases the diverse range of work produced at our campuses.’
