Kantar and McCandless launch data visualisation awards

WPP consumer insight consultancy Kantar and data visualistion guru David McCandless have teamed up to launch an international awards scheme for data visualisation.

The Information is Beautiful – inspired by Kantar awards are split into four categories: data visualisation, data journalism, infographics and computational art. Entries are open on website www.informationisbeautifulawards.com until the end of March 2012 and winners will be announced in early May 2012.

In addition to the annual awards there will also be monthly challenges based around a concept or dataset. The first challenge will launch on 19 September.

The awards and challenges have been developed by McCandless and Kantar creative director Aziz Cami.

McCandless says, ‘Both Kantar and I share a passion for data visualisation as a new way to tell stories. We want to support, celebrate and reward those practising this new creative form all around the world.’
