A round-up of this week’s news in brief.

 

Godrej Interio
 

Dalziel and Pow has designed the retail concept for Indian furniture brand Godrej Interio’s new Mumbai flagship store. The two-floor space uses multi-height plinths and screens to define departments and ‘create a clear customer journey’, according to the consultancy. This will be the prototype model for all Godrej stores, with the flagship opening later this year.

Höst, a restaurant in Denmark designed by Norm Architects, and London’s Atrium Champagne Bar, which was designed by Foster and Partners, are the overall winners of the 2013 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

Gymkhana Restaurant
 

B3 Designers has created the branding and interiors for Gymhkana, a new Indian restaurant in London’s Mayfair.

Consultancy Specialmoves has designed a new website for homelessness charity Centrepoint’s 2013 Sleep Out event. The site is fully responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile. 

Barbican campaign
 

Firedog has created the campaign for the Barbican’s Classical Music programme. The designs use a ‘dreamscape’ approach using multiple-exposure techniques to create a series of surreal images, ‘illustrating an ethereal place that has been created in the mind of the audience’, according to Firedog.

Discovery Networks’ factual entertainment channel Animal Planet is launched new branding, which the network says was created in-house. The new branding is inspired by the strapline ‘surprisingly human’.

Pepe Jeans Madrid.
 

Caulder Moore has created a new retail concept for Pepe Jeans. The new designs debuted in Barcelona and Madrid, and will be rolled out to stores in Paris, Rotterdam and another site in Barcelona. The consultancy says the interiors are inspired by the brand’s roots in London’s Portobello Market, featuring graffiti art, acrylic market boxes and brushed concrete.

Consultancy Social has been renamed Ever After, aiming to end confusion over the group’s expertise. Co-founder and Creative Director Paul Driver says, ‘Since Zuckerberg came up with his bright idea in 2004, it’s been increasingly problematic for a brand creative agency called Social to tell our prospects that social media was not really our focus’.

XYZ ipad
 

Five foot Six has created the branding for Hong Kong indoor cycling studio XYZ (Xpin Your Zenses). The consultancy says it ‘created a brand that is both mysterious and luxurious’, with copywriting by Pete Kirby and photography by John Ross.

Cinema group Odeon has launched a new website, designed and built in partnership with Amaze and Krankikom. The new site is fully optimized to be used across desktops, tablets and smartphones.

Ursus
 

Pearlfisher has redesigned the branding and 2D and 3D packaging for Romanian beer brand Ursus. The new structure features bear claw marks on the sides of the bottle, ‘adding more character and texture and creating an innovative grip area’, according to Pearlfisher.

Design foundation Be Open has announced plans to launch a Made In… project in India, which will showcase work by contemporary Indian designers and craftspeople.

Tortillas
 

Consultancy Buddy has created the new packaging for Tesco Tortillas and Dips range. The look is inspired by Mexican hand-painted graphics and sign writing, using bright colours and a new darker holding-device graphic.

Judge Business School Bag
 

Powell Allen has created a new visual system for Cambridge Judge Business School. Work began on the new identity last summer, and is now used across all touchpoints. Powell Allen says the new look is ‘modern’ yet also build’s on the University’s heritage.

Liverpool-based consultancy Black & Ginger has created a TV advert for heritage homeware brand Kilner. The ad shows a mother and daughter spending time together in the kitchen, and it can be viewed here

Stay Safe campaign.
 

Frost has created the Stay Safe campaign for AIDS Council of NSW (ACON), which ‘aims to help end HIV by making condoms fun’. The outdoor campaing uses a bold, black and white, typographic aesthetic, with illustrative condoms over some of the letterforms.

Youngs Pies.
 

Springetts Brand Design Consultants has redesigned the range of Young’s Meals Young’s Seafood. The packs feature new product photography, aiming to increase taste appeal, with  individual ‘personalities’ given to each product title to add standout.
