Precedent is opening a Hong Kong office, which will be headed up by the consultancy’s founder Paul Hoskins.

The move fits into the context of an international strategy, as the consultancy also has offices across Europe and in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

However Precedent says its main motivation is to offer strategic digital consultancy to Chinese universities, and to tap into Chinese design talent.

Hoskins says, ‘There is no doubt that China – and Hong Kong specifically – is fast becoming strong competition in the battle to attract the thriving international student market, but as we continue to see more and more Asian universities placed higher in the world university rankings, it is clear that it won’t be long before China’s home grown talent begins to see the benefits of a Chinese university education.’

Precedent says that the strategy it offers will help the universities present themselves to students in the UK and the west, encouraging them to study in China, as well stopping China losing its own national students to foreign universities.

Hoskins says, ‘We hope to be able to use our knowledge and expertise to help the sector ensure they are in the best position possible to attract, retain and nurture their relationships with students from both China and from across the globe over the coming years.’

A recruitment process is already underway for the Precedent office in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, and Precedent says it is looking to hire ‘a diverse team of local and international talent.’
