The return of the Handwritten Letter Project
The Handwritten Letter project is back. This project is a healthy antithesis to instant communication, be it text, email or social network, which fog our daily lives.
First appearing in 2011 it was the brainchild of Craig Oldham, then senior creative at Music, (now working under the name of The Office of Craig Oldham).
Oldham invited leading designers, studios and creative thinkers to submit handwritten thoughts on their own headed paper.
In return he received sage-like wisdom, absurd musings and doodles, on paper, through his letter box.
Naturally a book and an exhibition materialised, and now there is more of the same – just from different folk.
The full collection includes over 200 letters, a selection of which have been curated for the show.
A revised edition and a limited edition of the book of letters will be available from Made North with all profits going to The National Literacy Trust.
The Hand Written Letter Project runs until 1 November at Made North Gallery, Persistence Works, 21 Brown Street, Sheffield, S1 2BS
