LDA funds designer-maker collectives

London’s designer-makers could benefit from the London Development Agency’s latest £500 000 cash injection to ‘develop the creative skills of Londoners’ ahead of the 2012 Olympics.

Craft Central and 1 London are among 12 organisations to receive funding. Craft Central is investing the money in offering business support and showcasing opportunities for designer-makers, as part of its programme Craft London: Emerging New Talent.

1 London will use its grant to provide opportunities for young people to take part in digital media and product development activities, as part of its 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning scheme.

This is the second and final round of funding from the LDA’s 2012 London Cultural Skills Fund, which has distributed a total of £1.2m to cultural and community organisations in the capital.
