Adam Scott, director of the UK store, says he worked closely with the brand’s headquarters in Vienna, who are design the store interior and brand, Lomography Embassy London.
Scott was asked to suggest UK-centric symbolism that could be incorporated into a crest. Bulldogs, a Routemaster and Union Jack motifs have been chosen.
A template of the store – which includes a Lomo Wall – has been rolled out from other stores, but some bespoke additions will be made. ‘The Lomo Wall is a collection of hundreds of images on panels,’ says Scott.
‘Lomo 35mm cameras were originally salvaged by the Austrians from Russian flea markets,’ Scott says. ‘The wooden boxes used to carry them have been reproduced and incorporated into scaffolding to display cameras in the store.’
A glass desk unit at the centre of the shop will allow customers to ‘look, touch and explore the cameras’, Scott says.
The store will be furnished with selected vintage items imported from Austria.
A new product, the Diana Mini, will launch at the store. The half-frame camera allows 72 shots to be fitted on to one role of 35mm film and can switch between rectangular and square-format pictures.
