M Worldwide refurbishes Bath visitor centre

M Worldwide is redesigning the The Bath Visitor Information Centre, which is on the ground floor of the 18th-century Abbey Chambers in the city.

The consultancy was appointed to the work by client Bath Tourism Plus after being invited to a six-way pitch following its work at the Roman Baths main store.

M Worldwide says the work will provide a complete refurbishment of the centre, which has not been updated since 1995, and look at functionality to increase ticket and retail sales, improve visitor flow and enhance the visitor experience.

David Martin, co-managing partner at M Worldwide, says, ‘Our aim is to create an exemplary centre that seamlessly combines retail, visitor services and box office.’

Fiona Humphreys, commercial manger at Bath Tourism Plus, says, ‘[The centre] acts as a showcase for all that Bath and the surrounding area has to offer. Interpreting that sense of place while responding to the operational needs of such a busy outlet presents a design and planning challenge.’

She adds, ‘This is a major project for us, the first full-scale refurbishment of the centre since it opened in its current premises in 1995.’

The new Bath Visitor Information Centre is set to open in February next year.
