Malcolm Garrett joins Science Museum advisory committee

Malcolm Garrett, creative director of Applied Information Group, has been appointed to the advisory committee of the Science Museum in London.

Garrett has been heavily involved in a number of projects with the Science Museum in the past decade, including the opening of its Wellcome Wing.

The committee, which held its first meeting yesterday, is a sub-committee of the Science Museum’s board of trustees.

It is made up of 15 external specialists including Janet Street-Porter, mathematician Marcus du Sautoy and historian Simon Schaffer.

Garrett says, ‘We meet two or three times a year to maintain an ongoing dialogue.’

Tim Molloy, creative director of the museum, explains that the committee ‘provides a formal external set of perspectives on how we move forward as a museum’.

He adds, ‘The focus is very much on how to make science, technology and medicine accessible to all of our audiences.’

Garrett is one of three new members to join, the others are Sir Tim Hunt and professor Michael Reiss.
