Marcel Wanders in line for M&S homeware work

Dutch designer Marcel Wanders has been hired by Marks & Spencer to create a range of gifts and homeware, according to reports.

The Financial Times says Wanders has been brought in to work on the retailer’s Christmas gifts and also to work on some home ranges. Neither M&S nor Wanders would comment on the reports.

In March, M&S appointed Conran & Company to design a range of homeware, which will be available in September.

The project, which will be led by Sir Terence Conran, is part of M&S’ new strategy to separate its Home department into lifestyle categories Classic, Contemporary and Design.

The work came about after M&S chief executive Marc Bolland approached Sir Terence Conran to work on the range.
