Rama Gheerawo

Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at The Royal College of ArtDirector

With the Helen Hamlyn Centre (where he is now director) and Royal College of Art, Gheerawo has made a major contribution to work in the field of socially inclusive design.

Designing for people of all ages and abilities, healthcare research and global environmental issues have all been placed under the centre’s spotlight.

He has worked on around 150 projects with the likes of Gov.uk, Samsung and Toyota. A lot of his work has engaged in knowledge transfer, particularly how to co-design properly and design with rather than for people who will be affected by a project.

He’s shown countless businesses how to embed inclusive design into their business strategy and created education models for this purpose.
