National Maritime Museum seeks exhibition designers

The National Maritime Museum is seeking to appoint to an exhibition design framework to work on its £35m Sammy Ofer Wing project and other exhibitions.

The Sammy Ofer Wing, scheduled to open in 2012, will create a new main entrance on the south side of the museum, a new library and archive, a permanent exhibition and an 800m2 temporary exhibition space.

The south London museum is seeking around 15 consultancies to appoint to a four-year-long framework worth £520 000-£850 000.

These consultancies would work on projects including three 800m2 temporary exhibitions, development and design for a children’s interactive space, and reinterpretation and design of the ‘upper deck’ and main thoroughfares of the museum.

The framework will be split into three lots – permanent and temporary exhibition interpretation and design, design and museum interactive environments for children, and interior design/architecture in a public space.

The deadline for applications is midday on 10 February, and the framework is expected to run from June 2010 to June 2014.
