A round-up of this week’s news in brief.

Toastits logo
 

Aesop has branded new London food outlet Toastits. The branding uses a yellow, pink and blue colour palette, while the logo uses burnt-toast background and a ‘T’ outline from the name, which Aesop says is deliberately provocative and ‘saucy-seaside’.

Rufus Leonard has been appointed to review the strategy for charity Fight for Sight. The project will involve Rufus Leonard identifying how the organisation can drive awareness of its cause – to fund eye research to prevent sight loss and treat eye disease.

Bright Blue Villas
 

Praline has created the branding for Bright Blue Villas holiday rentals service. The identity uses a custom typeface and a logo that draws on the repetition of the capital B character. A colour palette of bright blue is used primarily, with a ‘warm grey for more practical and functional use’, says Praline.

Heals is working with three emerging textile designers  – Kangan Arora, Daniel Heath and Maxine Sutton –  to create a new collection of printed cushions. Each cushion is stamped with the designer¹s unique signature, Heal¹s logo and its individual edition number.

Stratum logo
 

999 has created the branding for Stratum International, a specialist global recruitment consultancy which manages worldwide placement of top-tier mining professionals. The new look aims to reflect the name, which refers to parallel, distinguished layers of rock.

The Design Museum has announced the jury for Designs of the Year 2014 as Ben Terrett of Government Digital Service; Frith Kerr of Studio Frith; Kim Colin of Industrial Facility; Piers Gough of CZWG Architects and Tina Gaudoin, acting editor in chief of Elle Decoration and independent fashion journalist. The jury is chaired by the writer, journalist and broadcaster Ekow Eshun.

Mucho Works Poster

Consultancy Mucho has designed a poster for its talk at the Typographic Circle on 1 May at JWT Headquarters in Knightsbridge, entitled Mucho Works? The talk will feature all six partners travelling in from the US, France, Barcelona and Berlin, and the UK’s John Dowling.

The Good Agency has created a campaign for the H2Only campaign from Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), which challenges people to drink nothing but water from 27 May to 10 June. The site can be viewed here. The consultancy also created the digital recruitment materials, social media strategy, direct mail, posters and press ads.

Hard Lemonade
 

Seymourpowell has designed the branding and packaging for new alcoholic drink Seth & Riley¹s Garage Hard Lemon Drink, which is owned by Carlsberg. The look aims to reference ‘a proud heritage of traditional American “home-made” craftsmanship, evoking the spirit of small-scale workshop innovation’, says Seymourpowell.

Allen International has designed London’s Virgin Money Lounge in Piccadilly. The space allows customers to ask for advice and browse banking information on iPads or using the free in-store Wifi. Features in the London store include a ‘sky lounge’ with Virgin Atlantic first class seats and windows,  and a traditional red London telephone box.

Purple Creative XX whisky
 

Purple has launched and designed the branding and packaging for a limited edition Scotch whisky to celebrate its 20th birthday. The 200 bottles of ‘XX Whisky’ come in four different bottle designs and will be given to friends and clients of the consultancy.

Consultancy We Are Everywhere has designed a new website for Bare Conductive  – a Design Museum Designs of the Year-nominated range of products that encourage users to experiment with electricity. The new site Features an enhanced community, showcasing a ‘make’ area to promote its tutorials to encourage users to share their own projects and a dedicated Education section.

Silk Pearce, Cult of Porsche
 

Silk Pearce has designed The Cult of Porsche book for print company Ricoh Europe. The publication features photography by James Lipman and showcases original Porsches, as well as owner-modified classics and their stories.

Cardiff-based consultancy Sugar Creative Studio has designed a new identity for Welsh television channel S4C, creating a new angled logo, which can be animated, and a new series of idents.

Productions Inc
 

Ico Design has created a new identity and website for photographic production agency Productions Inc.

Benoy’s interior architecture has designed a new Marks & Spencer store in the Vangarde Shopping Park in York.

Saatchi & Saatchi has designed the app for the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt in New York, which sees 260 egg installations designed by the likes of Fallon, Zaha Hadid and Virgin Atlantic hidden around the city. The app uses Beacon technology to send notifications when egg hunters are near to the sculptures
