A round-up of this week’s news in brief.

Frank
 

Crush Creative has designed the cover of Frank, a book by Jon Ronson about Frank Sidebottom – the late English musician and alter-ego of Christopher Mark Sievey.‘We focused on Frank Sidebottom’s iconic head zooming into his vacant eyes’, says Crush Creative. ‘[We used] the psychedelic 60’s look and feel that speaks to Jon’s self-deprecating Gonzo style of writing.’

Blacksheep has designed the interiors for Lanes of London, a restaurant and bar in Park Lane. The designs are inspired by the location, including ‘Portobello’s eclectic café culture’ and ‘the exotic air of Edgware Road’, according to the consultancy.

Veuve Clicquot
 

Designers Richard Harvey and Keivor John are creating the ‘Dive into a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne’ light installation at London’s Andaz Hotel for the champagne brand. The piece aims to give guests the feeling ‘they have been immersed in a giant effervescent glass of Veuve Clicquot in the centre of the Hotel lobby’, according to the brand.

Manchester-based consultancy Skylab has designed a new website for Emirates Old Trafford. Visitors to the website are able to view images, videos, case studies and videos of the many conferences, exhibitions, dinners and parties that have taken place in the function suites.

Kamm and Sons
 

British aperitif Kamm & Sons has unveiled a new bespoke bottle, with a label designed by Benjamin Carr and bottle design by brand founder Alex Kammerling.

Bluemarlin’s Australian office has appointed Britt Rigoni as client service director. She will work with the consultancy’s Victoria-based clients, and will work form Melbourne.

Carbon60 Stationery
 

Sherry Design has created the branding for Carbon60, a company that provides engineering and technical people solutions formed from the merger of two previous companies within parent brand the Impellam Group. The new name is taken from a fullerene (a carbon molecule), and the branding uses ‘strong visual metaphors associated with the fullerene, of strong bonds, frameworks and conductivity’, according to Sherry Design.

Manchester-based consultancy Cube3 has created a new website for Inventive Leisure, the parent company of the Revolution bars chain. Booking systems have been streamlined for ease of use on mobile and content on the site is responsive across all devices.

Ethical design brand Shake the Dust and London’s Southbank arts centre have put out a call for entries for Design Wallah – an open submission showcase of South Asian contemporary design. The show will take place in May this year, and organisers are looking for ‘brands and organisations who demonstrate a clear connection or partnership with South Asian artisans and producers and individual designers who hail from or show a strong connection with the region.’ For more information visit  http://shake-the-dust.co.uk/call-designers-makers/

Nexus’ animation director Celyn has created a product film for The Map Table, made and manufactured by Barber Osgerby and Vitra. The film uses hand drawn 2D animation to illustrate the ‘functionality and simplicity of the product’, according to Nexus.  It can be viewed here.

Cluttons
 

Industry has rebranded international estate agents Cluttons, scrapping the previous red logo for a new blue colour palette. The designs are based on the new ‘we make it easy’ proposition.

Goosebumps has appointed William Hall as senior consultancy. Hall has previously worked at Heavenly Group and BskyB.

One Acre Lineup.
 

Mayday London has created new packaging for Cafedirect-owned artisan tea range One Acre. The designs aim to ‘reflect the individual small tea gardens in Africa where these artisan teas have been grown for generations, on land no bigger than one acre’, according to Mayday London.

Reform Creative has created the branding and website for the holiday Try Tuscany. ‘As a new company it was important to create a look that would be clean and clear in   appearance and depict key messages that reflected a trusted, established brand’, says the consultancy.

The Government Summit
 

SAS has designed the website and app for the Government Summit in Dubai, which discusses the improvement and enhancement of government services. The app features as augmented reality function which enables delegates to navigate the venue using a built-in camera.

Interbrand Australia has rebranded Sky Movies for Sky NZ, the New Zealand-operated pay television satellite service. The consultancy worked with digital agency Sixty40 to create 18 new idents for the channel.

Consultancy Good has rebranded Ford dealership group Ford Retail, renaming it TrustFord.

Mystery has designed the branding and interiors for Smithfield, a new London restaurant inspired by London’s meat market. Mystery worked with with Anne Haimes on the interiors.

Edinburgh-based consultancy Graven Images has created the interiors for Ruffians Barber Shop & Store’s Covent Garden branch, creating a  ‘relaxed, confident and masculine’ environment, according to the consultancy.

Caulder Moore has designed the brand positioning, identity and environment for the Plus Kitchen Café concept, which launches in Istanbul this week. Interiors feature wooden fronted fridges, old fashioned weigh scales and re-usable jars set against exposed brick, white tiling and metal finishes.  It is hoped the concept, which offers healthy breakfast and lunch options, will then launch internationally.

Sheffield Print Fair, which launched last year is making a call for printmakers and artists to take part for this year’s edition, taking place in May. For more information click here 

Bell Pottinger Wired has developed a new website for creative production agency JSR. The new site centres around a genre filter system, allowing the user to easily search, navigate and interact with the content.
