Red Bee breakaway group forms The Council

Ex-Red Bee Media head of design Jeff Conrad has formed new consultancy The Council, taking with him Kevin Hill and Sophia Pendar-Hughes – the creative team behind the branding of TV channel Dave.

The Council, which Conrad says currently employs ten people, says it will resolve to take ‘an honest, direct approach to tailor-make charismatic, authentic and beautiful brands’.

The new consultancy says it already has several international clients lined up, including BSkyB in the UK, Digital Plus and Canal Plus in Spain and MDR Fernsehen in Germany.

Conrad, Pendar-Hughes and Hill rebranded nine channels in the UKTV network at Red Bee Media, relaunched BBC3 across platforms and delivered the corporate rebrand of the ITV network. Pendar-Hughes was senior producer at Red Bee Media and Hill was group creative director.

In its new offer The Council says it will use multi-platform media to engage consumers with brands. Conrad says, ‘At The Council our vision is simple: to create good brands that make people’s lives better. We’re not about the quick fix. We believe that to build a good brand, it’s got to be built to last.’

Client and consultancy will work closely together in a process The Council says may challenge brands, to ‘get [their] hands dirty’.
